Other Activities

I am ecological consultant for 'Spot-on Interpretation' - an environmental/heritage interpretation design company based in Manchester.

I co-wrote a book entitled "Facing Extinction" about the world's most threatened birds with Paul Donald (RSPB), Nigel Collar (BirdLife International) and Debbie Pain (WWT). Royalities from this book go to Birdlife's 'Preventing Extinctions Programme'.

Members of the group and I do occasional consultancies involving Environmental Impact Assessments, bird census methodologies and analysis, airport bird strike analyses etc.

Currently, we are working for European Space Agency on a project looking at ways to use space technology to reduce bird strike risk at airports, and with RSPB and the National Trust for the Cayman Islands on a project on Cuban Amazon Amazona leucocephala.
